How to get a six year old to practice piano
May 16th, 2010
Having a six year old play the piano is a wonderful thing. They are keen, excited and energetic in their learning, and if directed in the right way they can learn very effectively. Many teachers refuse to teach six year olds, and will only start them at seven or eight, and that is understandable. Six year olds can be very distracted, and definitely will find it hard to focus on practice at home. At home you need to have the parents full support, and you need to implement some strategies such as Music Practice Charts to make sure that practice not only happens, but continues to happen week in and week out.
