The Hotel California Lyrics, And What It Realized For My Life

June 2nd, 2011

Hotel California Lyrics are full of ambiguous imagery that some people interpret in strange ways. This Eagles track was the 1977 Grammys’ Record of the Year, but the band didn’t show up at the awards ceremony. A number of people misunderstood the Hotel California lyrics that came with the album. The play on words in “She’s got the Mercedes bends” went over some people’s heads and they just thought it was a misspelling. Band member Glenn Frey has said that the Hotel California lyrics are a metaphor describing the Eagles’ experiences in Los Angeles at the time. According to Frey’s co-lyricist Don Henley, the song is about the sordid parts of the American dream. Don Felder first wrote the music for the song and brought it to the attention of Henley and Frey. On the Rolling Stone list of the 500 all-time greatest albums, the Hotel California album is number 37.
