Online Contact Management – Why Online?

Online Contact Management is the idea of running your Contact Management system not form your own computer or network but rather from a vendor’s web server.
Why is that of benefit? Here are your answers:
- You have no installation time and costs.
- You’ll be up and running in minutes not days or even weeks
- There is no need for you to run your own technical support … and if something does go wrong you have access to a dedicated team of professionals. You will not be on your own
- When any customer of your vendor discovers a bug or problem and the problem is fixed, it is fixed for everyone at the same time
- You have zero running costs
- You just pay a monthly usage fee (usually)
- Development and enhancements are done by someone else and the costs are shared across all the customers not just you
- Your initial investment is minimal
- Your vendor also does the backups, maintenance, security and upgrades
- Again the costs of all the backups etc are included in your monthly fee (the vendor’s costs are shared across all the users, as opposed to each user company doing their own and footing the bill for their own work and time)
There are virtually no drawbacks to Online Contact Management compared to an in-house contact management solution. Sure you will hear about issues such as security and accessibility, But people who cite those issues just don’t know any better.
