Greenhouses and the Farm to School Program
April 29th, 2010
The Farm To School movement is becoming a trend across the nation. Schools are realizing the value of locally grown, fresh food and what it means to their lunch programs. Best tasting local produce adds benefits in increased lunches being bought and increased revenue for local farmers. Producing vegetables year round to supply the local school requires farmers to expand to greenhouse growing. For optimal growing, a greenhouse fogging system should be installed. A low pressure fogger will keep the air mosit and cool but will not wet the plants and greenhouse surfaces. Production losses will be kept to a minimum so profits can increase.
