Specific Fitness Marketing

How do I focus my advertising efforts to get the most for my money? Every month I have a specific amount of money that goes into my advertising costs but so far I have noticed that not every marketing facet is created equally, at least not for my company anyway. I want fitness marketing that will really see results. Where do I go to tap into the public that would most be affected by the gym that I am trying to promote? I can not longer do major advertising that is trying to pick up a large audience, I need a specific audience to concentrate on.
