The area covered by forest in the hilly Chota Nagpur plateau – a protected habitat of tigers, zambarov, nilgai, muntzhakov, leopards, wild boar and forest cats. The best time to travel: from February to April. Accommodation: Hotel Tourist Lodge and governmental Hotel in Hazaribagh, Forest rest houses in Razhdevre. Getting there: to the north of Ranchi via Flights To Ranchi from Hazaribagh (26 km). Information: Division Forest Office, Hazaribagh. National Park Batley in eastern Jharkhand, 178 km west of Ranchi. This park – one of the best places to observe wild elephants. You’ll also find leopards, buffaloes and, above all, tigers (there are safe observation towers).
