El Hierro - Peace and Quiet in the Canary Islands

The great thing about the Canary Islands is that there is something for everyone. If you love nothing better than a big loud and proud package holiday, El Hierro is not what you are looking for. If you prefer to enjoy your holiday being organised by teams of holiday reps, sitting in an air conditioned coach rather than from behind the wheel of your own El Hierro rental car, coming and going as you please, then you should go to Gran Canaria or Tenerife, not El Hierro. Due to its extensive volcanic make-up the island of El Hierro is not in the same league as its larger island neighbours. If you want a holiday where everything is within easy reach, within a vast hotel complex that offers bountiful activities day and night, El Hierro is definately not going to be your ‘cup of tea’. However, a popular holiday destination El Hierro is, it just doesn’t go shouting it from the rooftops!
